Walnut Creek, CALIF., December 19, 2009 – Archer Norris is pleased to welcome four new associates, Helen Baek (Los Angeles), Matthew Barnette (Walnut Creek), Sophia Karkazis (Walnut Creek) and David Marchiano (Walnut Creek) to the firm. All four associates, who participated in Archer Norris’s summer associate program in 2008, became associates after passing the California State Bar in November.
These four associates all participated in Archer Norris’s summer program in 2008. They now join a special group of Archer Norris attorneys. Continuing our long standing tradition of “home grown” attorneys, participants in the Archer Norris summer associate program typically receive job offers from the firm and subsequently pass the California State Bar on their first try.

Baek joins the environmental, insurance and litigation practice groups in the firm’s Los Angeles office. She received her J.D. from Cornell Law School and earned her B.A. in English Literature from the University of Southern California in 2005.
Barnette focuses his practice on insurance and litigation. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, and his B.A. in Political Science from Santa Clara University in 2006.
Karkazis is a member of the Archer Norris on-call trial counsel team. She received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005.
Marchiano also joins the on-call trial counsel team, as well as the construction defect and healthcare professionals liability groups at Archer Norris. He earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and his B.A. in Business from the University of Notre Dame in 2003.
