LOS ANGELES, CALIF., February 8, 2008 – On January 31, Archer Norris partner Richard W. (“Rich”) Vanis, Jr. was honored at Verbum Dei High School’s annual Mardi Gras Awards Dinner. Vanis received the 2008 Spirit of Verbum Dei Award for his embodiment of Verbum Dei’s ideals through his work as a partner at Archer Norris and a member of the Verbum Dei board. Rich devotes considerable energy to community involvement in Southern California, including his contributions to Verbum Dei High School, a Catholic college and career preparatory school in the Jesuit tradition, complemented by a corporate internship program, to serve young men of Watts and the surrounding communities. Professionally, Vanis defends complex litigation cases, dividing his time between the Southern California offices of Archer Norris in Los Angeles and Newport Beach offices.

In addition to his community involvement, Vanis maintains an extensive commercial litigation law practice at Archer Norris. He represents property owners, developers, general contractors, and educational institutions and their insurance carriers in all types of complex litigation matters. Vanis also handles construction defect, product liability, premises liability and matters in business litigation.
Vanis received his Juris Doctor in 1996 from Whittier College School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1992. He is a member of the Los Angeles County, Orange County and American Bar Associations, and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.
